Summer Reading is Upon Us

Now that summer reading is suddenly upon us, there are a few things that have been done to make finding the right book from the correct school's summer reading list a little easier.....

Community tags:

If you type: hmn into Encore, you will get you to a list of the books for Hawthorn Middle School NORTH.

Typing hms will do the same for Hawthorn Middle School SOUTH.

These books are on the Summer Shelf in the Children's Department and when we move to the TLC, all the summer reading titles for high schools and middle schools will be on one BIG shelf.

District 70 in Libertyville does NOT require summer reading, however Erin Wyatt, the popular librarian at Highland Middle School has tagged some of her favorites as: wyattwinners in Encore. Her list is still short, but I'm sure that more will be added.

The high school lists haven't changed much since last year, but the books aren't quite ready to be put out yet. There are still some cataloging issues to be resolved. Pam Strain assures me they'll be ready in a couple of days. If teens come in looking, you can get them a copy of the book from the cart in the Fiction Office or from the shelves in AV processing.

Now for the High School summer reading lists:

In Encore, searching lhs will get you to the list for Libertyville High School and
Vernon Hills hs will produce the list for Vernon Hills High School. (Thanks to Jane Trump for tagging these!)

In all these lists, the results can be further refined by clicking on the specific grade on the right side of the results page where it says "Refine by Tag."

It sounds much more complicated that it really it, but I thought it would help to spell it all out at the outset.

Perhaps the easiest way to access these lists is to click on the School Summer Reading Lists link on the front page of the Cook website. The link also available on the Find page under Student Reading Lists.
